Noblesville broke away from host Zionsville Friday night to win a Class 6A Sectional 4 semifinal game 31-24 and advance to next weekend’s championship game.
The Eagles went up 14-0 in the first quarter with two passing touchdowns, but the Millers came right back to tie the game. Logan Shoffner took off on an 81-yard touchdown run, then Gage Gulley powered the ball in from the two-yard line. Jack Letourneau made both extra-point kicks.
Another Zionsville touchdown pass put the Eagles ahead 21-14 at the end of the first quarter. Neither team scored in the second period, then Zionsville opened the second half with a field goal to lead 24-14.
After that, Noblesville took over. Jacob Baker closed the third quarter with a one-yard sneak into the end zone, and LeTourneau’s kick cut the Eagles’ lead to 24-21. Gulley scored the game-winner in the fourth quarter with a three-yard touchdown sprint. Letourneau followed that with his fourth extra-point kick, and later put the finishing touch on the game with a 37-yard field goal.
Shoffner totaled 244 yards rushing for the game. Baker went 7-of-13, totaling 151 yards.
Noblesville is 4-6 and hosts Westfield next Friday in the Sectional 4 championship game.
