Millers fall to Franklin Central

Noblesville dropped a tough Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Franklin Central on Friday, 28-22.
The Flashes scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead. The Millers got on the board in the second period when Gage Gulley took the ball in to the end zone for a two-yard touchdown. Logan Shoffner then made a two-point conversion run, and Noblesville was within 14-8 at halftime.
Gulley struck again in the third quarter, running the ball in from the three-yard line for his second touchdown of the game. Jack Letourneau stepped up and made the extra point, and the Millers led 15-14. But Franklin Central scored on a two-yard run, then made a two-point run to lead 22-15, and never trailed again.
Both teams scored a long-run touchdown in the fourth quarter. Connor Meinerding blasted off for a 54-yard scoring rush with 5:01 left, and Letourneau’s kick got Noblesville within six. But the Flashes held on to the ball for the remainder of the game.
Meinerding finished the game with 139 yards rushing. Sam Steinhofer led the Millers’ defense with nine total tackles, while Jacob Hoffman had two tackles for a loss.
Noblesville is 0-4 in conference play and 2-4 overall, and travels to Hamilton Southeastern next Friday.
