Last stage of electric line burial underway in Carmel

The final phase of Duke Energy’s burial of transmission lines has begun in the Carmel Arts & Design District and will force the temporary closure of a half-block stretch of Veterans Way, south of Main Street.

The transmission burial project began in 2015 and included the burial of conduit along the Veterans Way corridor from Carmel Drive to just north of Main Street.

The current closure is expected to last about four weeks and will be limited to daytime hours and some weekends. Access to the public parking lot located south of the Main Street shops will remain open.
