Kozicki defines her respect for Noblesville’s history during final candidate forum

Since launching her campaign for Noblesville Mayor in August, Julia Church Kozicki has vowed to “respect yesterday” while strengthening today and leading tomorrow.

However, as she was quick to point out at the recent Noblesville “Candidate Conversations” Forum, that does not mean wrapping the city in shrink wrap for the sake of preserving a pleasant memory. Kozicki made these remarks during the closing of the third and final forum hosted by the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce and League of Women Voters.

“Noblesville today stands on the shoulders of those who built the city with the future in mind,” said Kozicki.  “Our square is the visual embodiment of the hometown values that draw people to our community.”

As mayor, Kozicki believes it is imperative to ensure the authenticity that draws people to the community is not lost as the city evolves around the historic square.

“I grew up two blocks from the square. Nothing says ‘home’ to me more than walking south on 9th Street to the square. I returned to Noblesville following law school in Chicago to raise my family and contribute to the city that I have always called home,” she said.

That commitment to Noblesville is the main impetus behind her campaign, she explained.

“As we look to Noblesville’s bicentennial, my respect for Noblesville’s heritage will serve the city well while proactively and transparently leading it into the future.”

In the last of her “Conversations with Julia” series, Kozicki invites voters to meet her (and grab a slice of free pizza) at a “Family Fun Night” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at Greek’s Pizzeria, 216 S. 10th St.
