Ivy Tech Community College, Noblesville Chamber, First Merchants Bank holding tribute event for Senator Luke Kenley

Ivy Tech Community College, the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s legacy partner First Merchants Bank are hosting an event to honor Senator Luke Kenley, who retired Sept. 30. The event is slated from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Ivy Tech Hamilton County, located at 300 N. 17th St., Noblesville.

This event is an opportunity for individuals, community organizations, local governments and businesses to say thank you to the Senator for 40 years of civic leadership. It will feature special presentations and a catered luncheon. Tickets are available for $30 and table sponsorships are available for $350.

“Noblesville, Hamilton County and Indiana are all stronger because of Senator Kenley’s financial stewardship,” said Bob DuBois, president and CEO of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.

Larry Riggs of First Merchants Bank, longtime friend and early supporter of the effort to honor Kenley, shared, “Senator Kenley has been a good friend to Noblesville and we are pleased to assist the community in honoring him for his dedicated service.”

Kenley played a major role in bringing Ivy Tech to Hamilton County. Ivy Tech Hamilton County opened its doors in Noblesville in fall 2014 and has steadily increased its enrollment each year.

“Senator Kenley is a visionary leader who helped transform Ivy Tech into a true statewide community college,” said Dr. Kathleen Lee, chancellor of Ivy Tech Indianapolis. “He has helped make possible the hopes of thousands of Indiana students to earn a college degree with less debt. His efforts to connect education with workforce training have helped adults across Indiana improve their skills for better jobs.”

Ivy Tech will be represented by President Sue Ellspermann, Chancellor Kathleen Lee and Campus Vice Chancellor Dan Clark. Offering remarks will be former Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman, Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear, State Representative Kathy Richardson and Hamilton County Commissioner Steve Dillinger.
