Sheridan’s own Lisa Samuels pens children’s book

Mascot Kids has announced the release of The Magic of Camping with Nannie and Pops, a heartwarming children’s book by local author and retired youth advocate Lisa Samuels. Inspired by her own travels with her husband, the story invites readers on a magical camping adventure with three grandchildren and their loving grandparents.
In The Magic of Camping with Nannie and Pops, three grandchildren embark on a camping trip with their grandparents. Each day, the forest transforms into a new season – snowy winter hills, blooming spring meadows, sunny beach days, and crisp fall forests. At its heart, the story celebrates nature, imagination, and the simple magic of spending time with loved ones.
A former school librarian and early intervention advocate within the Sheridan Community School District, Lisa spent 27 years supporting students and families through education and community engagement. Her deep connection to children’s learning and literacy shines through in this gentle, nostalgic story about love, nature, and discovery.
To celebrate the launch of The Magic of Camping with Nannie and Pops, Lisa will host an exclusive author event on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Sheridan Public Library at 3:30 p.m., where she will read from the book and sign copies for friends, family, and community members.
