Summer championship season has started for Indiana swimmers.

Indiana Swimming commenced with its annual 2025 Senior Long Course Championship Wednesday at Indiana University’s Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.

There were only four events that took place on the first night: the 1500 freestyle and the 50 butterfly for both men and women.  The men’s 1500 free featured a dominant performance from Carmel Swim Club, which claimed four of the top five finishers. Lukas Biller led the way by winning the event in 16 minutes, 3.62 seconds. Austin Bruford finished second, Drew DuBois placed fourth and Zach Welch was fifth.

In other races, Carmel’s Molly Sweeney took seconds in the 50 butterfly, with Southeastern Swim Club’s Naomi Haines taking fifth. Another SSC swimmer, Izzy Schmitt, finished third in the women’s 1500 free, with Westfield Aquatics’ Laney McCulloch placing fourth and Carmel’s Kate Cassidy taking fifth.

Amira Leer of Fishers Area Swimming Tigers led her club with a seventh-place result in the women’s 1500 free. Olivia Motz represented Noblesville Swim Club in that race as well, taking 18th.
