Two Hamilton County golfers finished in the top 10 at the Indiana Open Championship, which concluded Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus.
Johnny Watts, a Hamilton Southeastern and Ball State graduate, tied for fifth place, finishing with an eight-under par 208. Watts jumped into the top five with a five-under 67 for his third round, making six birdies.
Jeff Doty, a Carmel graduate now playing at the University of Kansas, tied for ninth place. Doty finished six under at 210, going even par with a 72 in the third round. That included one birdie.
Zionsville’s Michael Davan was the winner, finishing 17 under par with a score of 199. Davan had 21 birdies for the tournament, including 10 during his second round and eight during the third round. The top three players were at least 10 under for the event, and the top 23 players finished the tournament under par.
