Huston: House Republicans to gavel in for session on Dec. 1

Submitted by Office of Speaker Todd Huston

Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) issued the following statement Tuesday, Nov. 25 regarding the session schedule:

“House Republicans will gavel in on Monday, Dec. 1, reconvening the 2026 regular session. All legislative business will be considered beginning next week, including redrawing the state’s congressional map. Because session will start early this year, we plan to adjust the calendar and complete our legislative business by the end of February.”

The 2026 second regular session officially commenced on Nov. 18 on Organization Day. Per IC 2-2.1-1-3, the General Assembly may reconvene the session either on a certain day fixed by concurrent resolution or when the gavel of each house falls in the presence of a quorum, regardless of whether a certain date has been fixed.

House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) represents House District 37, which includes a portion of Hamilton County.
