Hamilton Heights split a pair of games on the first day of the Ryder Realty Holiday Classic at Switzerland County Thursday.
The Huskies dropped their first-round game to Christel House Academy 62-53. Heights led 17-15 after one quarter, but the Eagles came back to lead 33-24 at halftime. The Huskies made their own comeback in the third quarter to get within 43-40, but Christel House scored 19 points in the fourth to clinch the win.
Sam Dawson made four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points. John Irion scored 12 points and pulled seven rebounds, while Tillman Etchison had 10 points and nine assists.
Heights rebounded in its consolation game, beating Trinity Lutheran 79-58. The Huskies led 44-30 at halftime and poured in another 25 points in the third quarter.
Etchison scored 22 points, followed by Dawson, who made another four 3s while scoring 18 points. Tyler Champion contributed 13 points. Dreydin Serna had seven rebounds, followed by five each for Carson Felger and Etchison. Phoenix Vondersaar dished out four assists.
Heights is 4-6 and plays Rising Sun at 2 p.m. this afternoon in the fifth-place game.
