Huskies cruise into Yorktown final

Hamilton Heights cruised into the championship game of Class 3A Sectional 24 at Yorktown on Saturday, beating Delta 46-16 in a semi-final game.
The No. 8-ranked Huskies were in control from the beginning, leading 16-2 after the first quarter. Heights then held a 23-8 halftime advantage, then outscored the Eagles 15-0 in the third period.
Camryn Runner led the Huskies with 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mia Shields and Kaylee Rhoton both added seven points. Twelve different Heights players took to the floor, with eight of them scoring.
“Proud of our effort tonight,” said Huskies coach Keegan Cherry. “Having had several days off on account of weather since our last game and not able to practice, it was good to get back at it. We were able to just play. Now it’s back to work and all about New Castle. They are a capable team with nice size and when making shots from 3, can be really dangerous. We’ll need a great effort.”
Heights is 17-5 and will play New Castle on Tuesday in the championship game. The Trojans defeated the host Tigers 46-37 in the other semi-final.
