Hounds fall to Pike in overtime

The Carmel boys basketball team dropped a 61-55 overtime game to Pike Friday, Jan. 23 on Bill Shepherd Court at the Eric Clark Activity Center.

The Greyhounds led 11-9 after one quarter. The Red Devils came back to lead 24-21 at halftime; Evan Harrell scored eight points in the second quarter to keep Carmel close.

The Hounds stayed close for the entire second half. Pike led 36-34 after three periods, but a 15-point fourth quarter, including another eight points from Harrell, brought Carmel to a 49-49 tie with the Red Devils at the end of regulation. Pike outscored the Greyhounds 12-6 in the overtime period.

Harrell finished the game with 22 points. Julian Vogt made four 3-pointers for 12 points. Cash Daniels and Ben Bremer both scored eight points.

Carmel is 10-2 and plays at Ben Davis on Friday, Jan. 30.
