The Carmel baseball team cruised to a 12-4 victory at Lawrence North on Wednesday.
The Greyhounds scored one run in the first inning. Hunter Snow got on with a double, then scored right away after Case Sullivan smacked a left field double. Snow doubled again in the second inning, bringing in Drew Fouts and Tim Haas.
The Wildcats led 4-3 after four innings, but Carmel took control in the fifth with three runs. Sullivan, Gabe Mathison and Snow all scored after Adam Buczkowski reached on error. In the sixth inning, Sullivan doubled home JD Stein and Snow, then Mathison batted in Sullivan with a center field hit. The ‘Hounds put up three more runs in the seventh: Stein singled Cam Carmichael home, Fouts scored on a wild pitch and Tyler Walkey’s right field hit scored Stein.
Sullivan finished the game with three hits. Mathison, Haas and Fouts each had one hit, in addition to the above-mentioned RBI hits. Theo Nagy got the pitching win, with five strikeouts over three and two-thirds innings.
Carmel is 5-1 and at hosts Roncalli on Friday.
