The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team got a tremendous win on the road Tuesday.
In a battle of ranked team, the Class 3A No. 4 Huskies took care of 2A No. 5 Lapel 53-42 at the Bulldogs’ gym. Heights got off to a good start, leading 13-5 after one quarter. Camryn Runner scored seven points, including two 3-pointers, and Ella Hickok and Katie Brown each had one 3.
Lapel cut Heights’ lead to 19-15 by halftime, but the Huskies poured in 21 points in the third quarter to move ahead 40-29. Runner took over in the third period by scoring 15 points, including an 8-of-8 performance from the free-throw line.
Seven points from Hickok helped Heights to seal the game in the fourth quarter. Runner finished with 28 points, going 12 of 14 from the line and making four triples. Hickok scored 15 points, including three 3s.
In an earlier game, the Huskies won 65-17 at Clinton Prairie last Saturday. Runner scored 35 points, with Hickok adding eight points.
The Huskies are 12-2 and play Thursday at Blackford.
