‘Hawks hold back Gophers for yet another conference win

Sheridan kept itself in the Hoosier Heartland Conference hunt on Friday with a 24-6 victory at Clinton Prairie.

The Blackhawks steadily built their lead over the first three quarters of the game. Alex Cravens got Sheridan on the board less than three minutes in with a six-yard touchdown run. Owen Bell kicked the extra point, then later added a field goal to give the Hawks a 10-0 lead after one.

Jacob Hall scored a touchdown on a short run late in the second quarter to put Sheridan up 17-0 at halftime. Chance Spencer completed the scoring in the third period by catching a 26-yard touchdown pass from Brock Hagan. Bell kicked both extra points, making him 3-for-3 on the night.

Cravens totaled 147 yards rushing, while Spencer had three catches.

The Blackhawks are 3-0 in conference play, sharing the lead with Carroll. The Cougars beat Eastern 28-13 on Friday. Sheridan is 3-2 overall and hosts Taylor next week to continue HHC play.
