Sheridan’s post-season run came to an end on Tuesday, as the Blackhawks fell at North Vermillion 8-4 in the Class 1A Regional 27 game.
North Vermillion led 2-0 after three innings. The Blackhawks erupted for four runs in the top of the fourth. Riley Reed led off with a base hit, then moved to third base on Addyson Ream’s double. Caitlin Neese then singled in Reed for Sheridan’s first run of the game.
With the bases loaded, Jacquellynne Bates was hit by a pitch and that scored Ream. Katy Crail came up next and singled in Neese and Maelei Casler. The ‘Hawks now had a 4-2 lead. But North Vermillion tied the game with a two-run home run in the fifth inning, then added four runs in the sixth.
Ream and Neese both finished the game with two hits; Neese also had a double. Ream pitched a complete game, tossing nine strikeouts.
Sheridan finished its season with a 13-7 record.
