The Hamilton County Human Resource Department announces the successful graduation of 20 employees from the Ivy Tech Leadership Series, marking a significant milestone in the county’s ongoing commitment to workforce development.
The semester-long program was designed to equip county employees with essential leadership skills and knowledge in topics ranging from behavior and communication styles to poor performance and conflict resolution. Held during work hours, the training series provided employees with free on-campus coursework and three hours of college credit.
Reflecting on the experience, Sam Sachs, a class graduate and Airport Director at the Indianapolis Executive Airport, said, “The Ivy Tech Leadership Class has been transformative for me. The lessons learned will stick with me for the rest of my career. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this program.”
In addition to the leadership and skills training, Ivy Tech will continue to provide Hamilton County employees with career coaching and mentoring, contributing to the overall professional development of its workforce.
“Fortunately, we don’t have a lot of turnover at the county,” said Sheena Randall, Director of Human Resources. “But that also means we have an aging workforce. We need to start planning for succession, to upskill our younger employees, and to build a pipeline for future leaders so they’re ready to fill those gaps when they open.”
