Fall is upon us, and that means that the Hamilton County Community Band is preparing for its annual fall concert scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Noblesville High School Auditorium. The concert is free to the public and will feature some spooky favorites including selections from The Wizard of Oz and The Phantom of The Opera.

“The fall concert is definitely my favorite event because it allows the band to get back into some more challenging pieces after a lighter summer season,” said Brian Swart, lead director and founding member of the band. “We love to raise the bar a bit for our fall and winter seasons.”

Additional selections for the concert include: “Shadow Waltzes” by composer Brian Balmages, Jason K. Nitsch’s “Coffin Races,” “Ammerland” by Jacob de Haan, and some sure-to-please spooky movie medleys.

The Hamilton County Community Band (HCCB), with over 80 volunteer members, was formed on Feb. 25, 2018, with a meeting between current director, Brian Swart along with Eric Thornbury, and Marc Feeney. These three men saw a need for a true community concert band in Hamilton County.

“Our mission is to have a “FUN” atmosphere that is inviting to all musicians,” Swart said. HCCB performs multiple concerts in and around the Hamilton County area. Rehearsals are held weekly on Sunday evenings at Noblesville High School.

In addition to the Oct. 8 performance, the band will also team up with the Hamilton Heights concert band on Oct. 22 at the Hamilton Heights High School. This concert will begin at 4 p.m. and will feature the Hamilton Heights bands and a combined performance with the Hamilton County Community Band.

Please consider supporting this community endeavor at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 in the Noblesville High School Auditorium, and at 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Hamilton Heights High School. Bring the family and grandkids and kick off the Indiana fall season. At the Oct. 8 concert, a free will offering will be collected to help with the purchase of new music and equipment.

HCCB also welcomes corporate sponsors. Information can be found at HamiltonCountyCommunityBand.com.
