On Monday morning, Dec. 1, an anonymous tip was received through Hamilton Southeastgern Schools’ Report It! App that a student may have a gun in his vehicle on Fishers High School (FHS) property.
Fishers Police Department School Resource Officers and FHS administrators searched the juvenile’s vehicle and located a firearm. Police do not believe the juvenile intended to use the weapon to cause harm at the school.
The 17-year-old is being charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Property.
Police thank the person who submitted the tip and the school administrators for acting promptly on the information provided.
Police say further inquiries regarding the case should be directed to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.
A charge is merely an accusation, and the arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
