Fishers police arrest juvenile for possessing firearm on school property

Submitted by Fishers Police Department

On Saturday, Nov. 29, Fishers police officers arrested and charged a juvenile with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on School Property. The juvenile was located off school property in a nearby neighborhood.

Officers responded to a fight at Hamilton Southeastern High School involving a firearm. Officers and school staff quickly reviewed camera footage to determine the suspect had left the building and there was no further threat at the school.

An off-duty Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy located the juvenile, and he was taken into custody. The juvenile is not an HSE student.

The juvenile attempted to hide the firearm, which officers later found on school grounds, with the assistance of a Carmel K9 team.

Since an arrest has been made, any inquiries should be directed to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
