Guerin Catholic, Southeastern & Carmel race to victory at cross country invitationals

Guerin Catholic hosted the All-Catholic Invitational last Saturday, and also swept both divisions.

The Golden Eagles girls team edged out Roncalli 46-51 for the team victory. All 10 Guerin Catholic runners placed in the top 24, led by senior Bailey Freese, who took sixth with a time of 19 minutes, 21.5 seconds.

The Guerin Catholic boys won with a score of 40 points, ahead of runner-up Bishop Chatard’s 52 points. Junior Luke Moster led the way for GC, taking second in a time of 16:14.5.

The Hamilton Southeastern girls team triumphed at the Wildcat Classic Invitational, which took place last Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.

The Royals led a county top-two sweep, as they scored 40 points. Noblesville placed second with 114 points. Two more county teams also finished in the top 10: Fishers took seventh with 187 points and Westfield was 10th with 294 points.

Southeastern’s Margaret Powers was the individual runner-up, clocking in at 18:01.6. Anissa Lammie (seventh) and Elizabeth Butler (eighth) also reached the top 10. The Millers were led by Nadia Perez’s fifth-place finish.

Hamilton Southeastern’s boys team made it a Royals sweep at the Wildcat Classic.

Southeastern scored 96 points to earn the team trophy; Andrew Smith led all county runners by finishing ninth. Noblesville placed seventh by scoring 249 points, with Fishers taking 18th place with 413 points.

The Carmel boys team edged out Zionsville to win the Brown County Eagle Classic last Saturday.

The Greyhounds scored 91 points, just ahead of Zionsville’s 92 points. Carmel had eight of its 10 runners finish in the top 40, led by senior Kyle Grove’s fourth-place individual result.

Westfield was 17th as a team; the Shamrocks scored xxx points.

The Greyhounds totaled 116 points, behind only North Central’s 77. Freshman Annabel Pollert led Carmel with an 11th-place finish, clocking in at 18:48.4.

The Trailblazers boys team took 13th with 332 points. Finlay Reid finished 10th individually in a time of 16:57.6, with Ben Gleason taking 23rd in 17:31.7. Other University boys runners were: 120.
