Golden Eagles fall in semifinals

Guerin Catholic fell in the semifinals of Class 3A Sectional 27 Friday at Bishop Chatard, losing to Heritage Christian 67-50.

Heritage slowly built a first-lead lead, going up 14-10 after one quarter and 31-23 at halftime. The Golden Eagles stayed in the game with balanced scoring, as all eight players that took to the floor scored at least two points. Kori Dues had two 3-pointers during the opening quarter.

Heritage Christian pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Guerin Catholic 19-9 for a 50-32 lead. The Golden Eagles played Heritage even in the fourth period, with Ava Bills scoring six points.

Bills led GC with 10 points. Annie Murphy and Dues both made three triples for nine points each.

The Golden Eagles finished their season 9-14.
