Golden Eagles dominate Heritage

Guerin Catholic took the lead in the Circle City Conference race on Friday, sailing past Heritage Christian 57-32 at the Eagles Nest.
The first half of the game was close, as the Golden Eagles led 11-9 after the first quarter and 19-17 at halftime. But Guerin played an outstanding defensive third quarter, allowing Heritage only three points. That gave GC a 31-20 lead after three periods, and the Golden Eagles ran away with the game in the fourth quarter by scoring 26 points.
Bernie McGuinness scored 24 points and collected eight rebounds, while Matthew Gillis added 12 points and had nine rebounds. Kaleb Edwards blocked three shots.
Guerin Catholic is 2-0 in conference play and 5-2 overall. The Golden Eagles are off until Saturday, Dec. 28 when they play two games at the Roncalli Classic.
