Girls soccer: Millers get home victory; Royals, Huskies go 2-0 at tournaments

The Noblesville girls soccer team played its first home game of the season on Saturday, cruising past West Lafayette 5-0 at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
The Class 3A No. 1-ranked Millers scored three goals in the first half, starting with an Ava Bramblett score in the 24th minute. Meredith Tippner made the assist. Makenna Maloy added a second goal seven minutes later, then Kiana Siefert scored during the last minute of the half, with Mackenzie Miller assisting.
Isabella Griffey scored Noblesville’s fourth goal a few minutes into the second half, with Bramblett making the assist. Tippner put in her first varsity goal in the game’s 63rd minute to complete the Millers’ scoring, with Tori Goodwin providing the assist.
The Millers are 2-0 for the season and begin Hoosier Crossroads Conference play Wednesday when they travel to Avon.
“We’re progressing the way I was hoping we would be this part of the season,” said Noblesville coach Mike Brady. “They all know we have work to do.”

Hamilton Southeastern, rated No. 5 in 3A, got victories over two ranked teams Saturday at the South Bend St. Joseph Invitational.
First, the Royals beat 3A No. 12 Penn 2-0, scoring both goals in the first half. Daniela Rios-Rojas scored Southeastern’s first goal, with Caroline Kelly providing the assist. Kelly put in the Royals’ second goal, assisted by Lauren Ellinger.
“Penn has a great history and has been one of the top programs in the state over the past decade,” said HSE coach Greg Davidson.
In their second game, the Royals beat 3A No. 10 and host St. Joseph 1-0. Morgan Castiglione scored Southeastern’s goal late in the second half, with Kelly making the assist. The Royals’ defense did not allow St. Joseph a single shot during the game, with Ella Wolf and her defensive unit controlling the game.
Southeastern is 4-0-1 and travels to Brownsburg on Thursday for an HCC game.

Fishers, ranked No. 18 in 3A, picked up its first HCC win of the season by beating Franklin Central 3-0 on Saturday.
Aubrey Robertson, Lilly Touhey and Taylor Hamilton each scored goals for the Tigers. Sami Bird, Taylor Stone and Emmy Streeter all had one assist.
Fishers is 1-0-1 in conference play and improved to 3-0-1 overall. The Tigers will play another HCC game Wednesday when they host Zionsville.

Hamilton Heights, the No. 8 team in Class 2A, won two games at the Lebanon Invitational on Saturday.
The Huskies opened with a 2-0 victory over 2A No. 15 Lafayette Central Catholic. Sophomore Ella Hickok scored both of Heights’ goals, with one in each half. Emma Hall had one assist.
In their second game, the Huskies cruised past host Lebanon 6-0. Kyndall Ferguson had a dominant game for the Huskies, scoring three goals. Addyson Ferguson had one goal and two assists, with Hickok and Natalie Marcum also putting in one goal. Hall dished out two assists while Keri Townsend had one.
The wins keep Heights unbeaten at 3-0 for the season. The Huskies return to their home field on Wednesday to play Western.

Westfield, rated No. 15 in 3A, lost a home game to Plainfield 2-1 on Saturday.
The Quakers scored both of their goals in the first half. The Shamrocks’ Brooke Cimini made a penalty kick with 11 minutes left, but Plainfield held on for the win.
Westfield is 1-1-1 for the season and plays at Northwestern on Monday.

University fell to Pendleton Heights 9-1 on Saturday.
Alex Feeney scored the Trailblazers’ goal. University hosts Shortridge on Monday.
