Girls basketball: Shamrocks get conference win at Franklin Central

Westfield picked up a Hoosier Crossroads Conference win at Franklin Central Tuesday by the score of 54-44.

The Shamrocks led 15-13 after one quarter, then jumped ahead 29-20 by halftime. Lindsey Van Dyke scored nine first-half points. The Flashes cut Westfield’s lead to 36-33 after three quarters, but the ‘Rocks clinched the game with 18 points in the fourth quarter.

Van Dyke led the way for Westfield with 11 points. All eight players that took to the floor scored for the Shamrocks; Reagan Lorenzen and Makayla Hatcher both had nine points and Sam Price contributed eight points.

Westfield is 3-2 in conference play and 9-3 overall. The ‘Rocks play in the Parkview Sports Medicine Shootout at Trine University beginning Friday; Westfield takes on Fort Wayne North Side at 5 p.m.
