The Hamilton County Democratic Party announced last Thursday, July 2, that four new candidates have officially filed to run for county office in the 2026 election, expanding the party’s slate and ensuring Hamilton County voters will have Democratic choices in several key countywide races this November.
The candidates who filed their paperwork at the Hamilton County Clerk’s Office are:
- Charles Hollowell for Sheriff
- Alexandra Wilson for Clerk
- Ti’Gre McNear for Commissioner, District 1
- Doug May for County Council, District 3
These candidates join a growing Democratic ticket focused on strengthening local government through responsible leadership, transparency, and public service.
“Across Hamilton County, Democratic candidates are stepping forward because they believe our communities deserve thoughtful, accountable leadership and real choices at the ballot box,” Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman Josh Lowry said. “The enthusiasm we’re seeing from candidates, volunteers, and voters reflects the momentum building across our county. Every office matters, and we’re proud to offer strong candidates who are committed to serving their neighbors.”
The addition of these four candidates continues the Hamilton County Democratic Party’s efforts to compete across the county and ensure voters have meaningful choices in local elections. Over the past several election cycles, Democrats have expanded candidate recruitment, increased volunteer engagement, and built a year-round grassroots organization dedicated to serving Hamilton County communities.
