Dear Editor:

I am writing on behalf of State Senator Jim Buck who is being unfairly attacked and characterized by his opponent and his opponent’s committee.

I have known Senator Jim Buck for over 40 years. I have observed this man serve his constituents in ways and in a manner that shows his commitment to them and to good, conservative government.

I had the honor and privilege of serving the 21st State Senate District constituents as a State Senator for eight years from 1979 through 1986. I know something about the challenges and responsibilities required by the office. Jim has shown his 21st District constituents that he listens to them and cares about them and their concerns. He has served faithfully and responsibly based upon his commitment to conservative, Christian values which govern his personal life and family.

Finally, Jim Buck is greatly respected by his peers in Indianapolis and has become a highly-valued example to the many younger and less-experienced senators he is privileged to work with.

I strongly recommend, without reservation, that the 21st Senate District voters send State Senator Jim Buck back to the State Senate for four more productive years.

James R. Butcher
