Elwood Community Schools launches Nexus Academy
Elwood Community Schools has announced the launch of Elwood Nexus Academy, a flexible online learning option designed to meet the needs of today’s students while keeping them connected to real-world opportunities and local support.
Serving students in grades 7 through 12, Elwood Nexus Academy combines online coursework with the support and opportunities families want from a public school program. Students can work from home while still having access to career and technical education pathways through Hinds Career Center, opportunities for athletics and extracurricular involvement based on eligibility, and ongoing guidance from local staff.
Unlike many fully online programs, Elwood Nexus Academy focuses on flexibility without sacrificing accountability, student growth, or future readiness.
“As a parent, I know how important it is to find the right fit for your child,” Academy Director Julie Wrin said. “Elwood Nexus Academy gives students flexibility, but it also gives families peace of mind knowing their student still has support, accountability, and opportunities close to home.”
The program provides students with a Chromebook and charger, flexible pacing, and progress monitoring designed to help students stay on track while building important life skills such as time management, responsibility, and independence.
Elwood Nexus Academy is open to students both inside and outside the Elwood community. Families interested in learning more about Elwood Nexus Academy can visit the program website, complete the interest/application form, or contact the school directly with questions.
