Fishers Junior High student charged with possession of imitation firearm

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Fishers Police Department’s School Resource Unit was made aware of a situation at Fishers Junior High (FJH) involving a 13-year-old male student.

FJH staff were made aware that the student might be in possession of an imitation firearm. As of 2026, it is illegal to possess an imitation firearm on school property or on a school bus.

After being alerted to the situation, the SRO at Fishers Junior High and the administrative staff began an investigation and located an imitation firearm in the student’s backpack. The item was collected as evidence, and the student was placed under arrest. The student is charged with Possession of an Imitation Firearm on School Property or on a School Bus, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Any disciplinary action will be addressed by FJH.

All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
