Fishers Arts Council (FAC) announces the winners of the 17th annual Fishers Arts Council Senior Showcase sponsored by STAR Bank.
Senior Showcase is an annual exhibit where seniors of both city high schools, Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern, exhibit their artwork and poetry while competing for scholarships.
“The 17th annual Senior Showcase once again highlighted the impressive artistic talents coming out of the Fishers and HSE School programs,” FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt said. “This year over $4,800 in scholarships were given to 19 seniors, ranging from $50 to $700 per award, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and art patrons. Fishers Arts Council is proud of this event and is thankful for the partnership with the Fishers Art Center in allowing an expansion of the gallery space to better serve our graduating artists. Additionally, we give thanks to Fishers and Indy Art Center Exhibitions Manager, Alex Moore, for judging this year’s show.”
The awards were presented Friday evening, May 8, at Art Gallery at City Hall in the Fishers Municipal Center Theater during FAC’s Gallery Hop Second Friday reception. Erica Foreman, Fishers Arts Council’s Vice President, along with and STAR Bank Private Banking Manager, John Lee presented the awards. Catherine Snider also presented a special award, “Best Representation of the Written Word,” in memory of her daughter, Jordan D. Snider.
The award for Best in Show went to Ava Difilippo (Fishers High School) for her painting titled “Metamorphosis.”

The evening’s other big winner was Grace Gutwein, (Hamilton Southeastern High School) for her poem titled “Addiction and Dry Shampoo,” receiving the Jordan D. Snider award for Best Representation of the Written Word. Gutwein gave a reading of her winning poem, as well as another poem of hers, during the ceremony. Eighty-eight students participated in the exhibit offering 129 pieces of 2D and 3D art, along with seven poetry-based submissions.
