Everyone in the community is invited for the “Festival of Hymns” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 in the Sanctuary at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St. Enter through Door 1.
“Familiar hymns will be performed by the church’s chancel choir and orchestra with the congregation being invited to sing a verse of each hymn,” said Dr. Jeff Wright, the church’s director of music. “Historical context for each hymn will also be shared and it will be a wonderful way to observe the second Sunday in the Lenten season.”
The event will also mark the decommissioning of the church sanctuary’s 60-year-old organ, which will be replaced in the coming year. A special liturgy will be shared honoring the organ and the congregation will be given the opportunity to say thank you and goodbye to an instrument that has been an integral part of the church’s music ministry for decades. The festival will then conclude with one final organ selection.
Noblesville First United Methodist Church was founded in 1822 and today serves the spiritual needs of over 1,600 members in and around Hamilton County, with outreach ministries that are rooted in love, connecting people, and planting seeds of hope.
