Donald Joe “Sunset” Carson

December 18, 1944 – January 1, 2024

Donald Joe “Sunset” Carson, 79, Cicero, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 18, 1944, to the late James L. and Joan E. (Ridge) Carson in Tipton.

Don was in law enforcement for 25 years where he served under the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and retired from the Noblesville Police Department. He was a member of Omega Christian Church and the Hamilton County FOP #103. Don enjoyed watching NASCAR and IndyCar racing, the Indianapolis Colts, and old westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce F. Carson; daughters, Deborah S. (Peter) Hilger and Angela K. Holloway; sister, Nancy Voss; granddaughter, Lindsey N. (Zachary) McWhorter; grandson, Austin B. Holloway; and his great-grandson, Owen Wayne McWhorter.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services at 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Pastor Neal Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery in Cicero.

    Sunset I’ll miss you. You were more like a brother than a cousin. We had great times hunting, fishing and working on our cars. I’ll miss talking with you about the good ol’ days. We’d laugh at the same stories over and over. There were 5 of us that hung out together. Those were great times. I know you are at peace. I’ll see you someday and we’ll tell those same stories then.
