Daniels’ basket lifts Hounds past Giants

The REPORTER

Carmel’s Cash Daniels made a layin with a few seconds left in the Greyhounds’ game at Ben Davis on Friday, Jan. 30, and that was enough to send Carmel home with a 68-66 win over the Giants.

The Hounds led 20-19 after one quarter and moved ahead 37-34 by halftime. Carmel extended its lead to 54-47 after three periods and withstood a Ben Davis comeback in the fourth quarter.

Evan Harrell scored 25 points and five rebounds for the Greyhounds, while Daniels finished with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Both players were perfect from the free-throw line: Daniels was 8-of-8 and Harrell was 5-of-5, accounting for all 13 of Carmel’s foul shots.

Julian Vogt added 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Aiden Dickerson pulled five rebounds.
