Damon Winston breaks Sheridan high jump record

Sheridan’s Damon Winston put his name in the Blackhawks’ history books during Wednesday’s meet between Sheridan, University and Lapel.

Winston set a new school record in the high jump. First, Winston cleared 6 feet, 8.5 inches in his third attempt, breaking Jeff Mosbaugh’s long-standing record of 6 feet, 8 inches. Winston then attempted 6 feet, 10 inches and cleared that height on his first try. Winston is now tied for second in the overall state rankings.

Sheridan finished first in both the girls and boys team standings. In the boys meet, the ‘Hawks scored 56 points to Lapel’s 47 and University’s 42.
