Dallas Ray Grinstead

March 13, 1935 –April 14, 2017

Dallas R. Grinstead, 82, of Fishers, IN departed this earth to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven on April 14, 2017. Dallas was born on March 13, 1935 to Paul and Beulah (Collier) Grinstead of Sheridan, IN who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra, his daughters Sara Fritz (James) of McCordsville, IN Michele Mansfield (Dr. Dennis) of Fort Wayne, IN, and his three grandchildren Alison Mansfield, Ashley Fritz and Zachary Fritz. Dallas is also survived by three siblings: Delores Durham of Winchester, IN, David Grinstead of Saraland, AL and Julianna Wiseman of Fortville, IN. His sister Carole Cooke of Altoona, PA preceded him in death.

Dallas was a 1953 graduate of Sheridan High School where he was active in FFA, track & field and 4-H. In 1950, he was named the International Livestock Judging Champion at Chicago’s Union Stock Yards, and as a member of Sheridan High School’s FFA Judging Team, he and his teammates won many state honors. His ties to Sheridan remained strong later in life as Dallas served as President of the Marion-Adams High School School Board (formerly Sheridan High School).

He proudly served in the U.S. Army Battery B-67th Field Artillery Battalion, and more recently served on the Kokomo Area Tapers’ Church (a satellite church affiliated with Berachah Church in Houston, TX) Board of Deacons.

Many farmers in Hamilton County and surrounding areas knew Dallas as he managed the Kaiser Agricultural Chemical Plant for approximately 25 years.

Although Dallas enjoyed his work and community activities, the thing he relished most was daily intake of God’s word and spending time with family. He was proud his wife, two daughters, grandchildren and sons-in-law were (and are) all Christians. Before passing, Dallas expressed his desire that his death be used as an opportunity to tell others about the amazing gift of eternal life through faith alone in Christ alone. That desire will be fulfilled on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Family and friends are invited to gather at Sheridan Six Points Wesleyan Church, 1545 West 226th Street, Sheridan, IN 46069 from 1-2 p.m. with the memorial service commencing at 2 p.m. Pastor Mark Woodard of Living Word Bible Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Living Word Bible Church, 6306 Gray Road, Indianapolis, IN and/or Berachah Church, 2815 Sage Road, Houston, TX.
