An adaptation of four of Barbara Park’s best-selling books, Junie B. Jones: The Musical follows the hilarious Junie B. on her first day of first grade. She makes friends with the new kid in school, discovers she may need glasses in Mrs. Scary’s class and finds her best friend Lucille has made new best friends.

This CYT production features 17 cast members, including Carmel resident Abigail Mickelson, 11, who played Junie B. Jones in CYT’s 2021 production of Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook.

“I really enjoy playing Junie B. Jones as she’s moving into first grade,” Mickelson said. “It’s a big change for her, and it’s fun to see how she learns to overcome and adapt to things she can’t change. I love how she likes to be herself – friendly, a bit crazy and honest; it makes her a super fun character to play.”

Playing the bus driver Mrs. Woo is Sophie Schueler, 11, Westfield.

“I’m excited about Junie B. Jones: The Musical because it’s funny, the songs are upbeat, and the dancing is really fun,” Schueler said.

While show is appropriate for all ages, Schueler recommends it for preschoolers, kindergartners and elementary students who are more likely to be familiar with the Junie B. Jones books.

Additional cast members hail from Noblesville, Zionsville and Indianapolis.

“Getting to know these young actors and see them flourish in their roles has been spectacular,” Show Director Jordan Fox said. “They do a wonderful job bringing these lovable characters and fun-filled songs of Junie B. Jones: The Musical to life.”

Also on the artistic team is musical director Diana O’Halloran and choreographer Ashley Thibodeau.

Tickets for Junie B. Jones: The Musical are $15 each and are available at cytindy.org.
