Cynthia Lynn “Cindy” Rayle

January 14, 1953 – November 4, 2025

Cynthia Lynn “Cindy” Rayle, 72, passed away at her home in Westfield on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025. Born January 14, 1953, in New Castle, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Albert Lee Hunter and Hilda (Vincent) Hunter-Denny.

After graduating from Hamilton Heights High School, Cindy went on to earn her certification as a veterinary technician. This proved to be the defining moment in her life. A true animal lover, Cindy helped take care of countless animals throughout her years in veterinary medicine. It was a labor of love. She was privileged enough to work in numerous vet offices during her career, with the last being the Hermann Vet Clinic, before health issues forced her into retirement. Cindy was the proverbial “Energizer Bunny” – she was constantly on the go and never seemed to slow down. A go-getter if there ever was one, she worked hard every day of her life, not for money, but because that was just how she was made.

Cindy lived a very frugal life, mastering the art of stretching a dollar to its fullest. Legend has it that she could turn $1 into $20 without even breaking a sweat. She fell in love with many of what many consider the “old ways” of doing things. Cindy enjoyed tending to her garden and looked forward to canning what she harvested. She also fell in love with quilting. A hobby born of necessity, she later came to appreciate it and loved experimenting with different patterns.

As her health became more of an issue in later years, reading became a much bigger part of her life. Getting lost in the pages of a good book helped her stay mentally active, even though her body was telling her to slow down. She also loved to work on arts and craft projects.

Without a doubt, the most important thing in Cindy’s life were her friends and family. Time spent with those she loved was what recharged her batteries and gave her the strength to tackle everything she had to face in her life, good and bad.

Cindy is survived by her son, Jacen H. “Jake” Rayle (Tracy) of Baker’s Corner; brother, Ron Hunter (Julie) of Fishers; her feline BFF, Darwin; and her dog, Baxter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lee Hunter and Hilda (Vincent) Hunter-Denny.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

Pastor VJ Stover will be officiating.
