February 18, 1958 – June 29, 2018
Cynthia Ann Campbell, 60, Sheridan, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday afternoon, June 29, 2018 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born February 18, 1958 in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Otis H. and Ruby Mae (Roberts) Sutton.
After graduating from John Hinds Vocational School, Cindy entered the workforce. For many of those years, she was a custodian for the Carmel School System. She would also work for Kroger and Wilson Farm Market in their deli departments. Cindy loved to cook, and in the deli, fried chicken was her specialty. If you went in and saw “The Chicken Fryer” at her post, you were in for some good eatin’.
Cindy was a very special lady to a lot of people. She was kind of the “Granny” for most of her neighborhood, as well as quite a few others around town. Helping people and looking out after them was just part of her DNA. Most of the time, her infectious smile was just what the doctor ordered. No matter how badly things seemed to be going in her own life, she never let it show. She always had a smile on her face, and that smile seemed to carry over to just about everyone she came in contact with. Cindy never met a stranger, and that gift of getting to know people came in handy when she, along with her family, started raising money for the Relay for Life. She was very active in the Westfield and Noblesville events. Cindy was a Team Captain, a volunteer, and a champion for the cause. For the residents of Sheridan, you could almost set your calendar by her yard sales and her other fundraisers around town benefitting the American Cancer Society. Her efforts were recognized during one of the American Cancer Society’s annual awards presentations. Cindy also loved volunteering around Sheridan as well. For many years, she was the scorekeeper and bookkeeper for Sheridan Rec. Board Softball League. She also enjoyed the years she spent as a Girl Scout troop leader. There are countless organizations in and around the Sheridan community that will truly miss seeing Cindy’s smiling face come through their doors, brightening the day for the people on the other side like only she could.
No matter what Cindy was involved in, her family always took top billing in her life. She was full of sass and her family took the brunt of it, but nobody loved them more than she did.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Nicole Renee Godby (Seth), Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Autumn Campbell, Sheridan, and Malachi Campbell, Zane Godby, Brett Godby, Justice Godby and Hendrix Godby, all of Orlando, Fla.; her father in law, Boyd Campbell; one brother, Otis Sutton (Cynthia), Noblesville; two sisters, Margaret Harber, Anderson, and Carolyn Townsend (Bill), Arcadia; and by the love of her life, her dog Bella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Pamela Kay Campbell; one brother, Charles Sutton; mother in law, Sylvia Campbell; nephew, Tommy Sutton; niece, Tara Tebow; brother in law, Freddie Harber; and by her loving husband, Gary Wayne Campbell on January 18, 2011. She and Gary were married on August 4, 1978.
