Cross country: Golden Eagles boys first at CCC meet

The Guerin Catholic boys cross country team won the Joe Harvey Circle City Conference meet, which took place Saturday morning at Brebeuf Jesuit.
The Golden Eagles scored 39 points and landed three runners in the top 10. Ethan Hines paced Guerin with a second-place finish, followed by Evan McNeany in fifth and Jack Weber in ninth.
Guerin Catholic’s girls team placed fourth with 74 points. Bridget Gallagher led the way by taking third.

Noblesville’s boys team finished as runner-up at the Huntington High School Invitational Saturday at Huntington University.
The Millers scored 79 points, behind only Concordia Lutheran’s 67 points. Two Noblesville runners placed in the top 10: Joel Mumaw was third and Asher Propst was eighth.

Both Carmel’s boys and girls teams, and the Noblesville girls ran at the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday.
The Millers won the Girls 4K Freshman/Sophomore division with a score of 42 points. Noblesville placed four runners in the top 10: Brinkley Cooper was second, Nadia Perez finished fifth, Summer Rempe took ninth and Kennedy Applegate was 10th.
Carmel placed second in the division with 87 points. Olivia Mundt was the highest Greyhounds runner, taking seventh.
Meanwhile, Carmel won the Girls 4K Junior/Senior division, scoring 56 points and landing three runners in the top five. Jasmine Klopstad finished second, Alivia Romaniuk took third and Jamie Klavon was fifth. Noblesville’s Paige Hazelrigg finished ninth.
In the boys race, Carmel was second in the Freshman/Sophomore category with 75 points. Jack Capes placed ninth for the ‘Hounds. Carmel took fifth in the Junior/Senior race, with Lucas Lemme finishing in 15th.

Westfield swept the boys and girls competition at the Plainfield Invitational, a 9600-meter two-person relay, on Saturday.
The Shamrocks girls scored nine points, with Hannah Pensyl and Liz Smith the winning duo. Westfield’s boys got the victory with 18 points, led by Josh Barnett and Kai Connor placing first.

Fishers had its girls and boys team both place second at the Brownsburg 4K Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers boys landed five runners in the top 10: Sam Quaglianoli (fifth), Nick Pulos (seventh), Alec Foster (eighth), Tate Meaux (ninth) and Austin Wilson (10th).
Fishers girls had three top-10 finishers. Elizabeth Barrett took second, Vera Schafer was fifth and Megna Mybeck placed 10th.

The Trailblazers girls took 11th with a score of 323 points, while the UHS boys were 16th with 402 points.
