250 complimentary memberships available to young adults ages 18-29 thanks to support from Duke Energy Foundation
Conner Prairie invites young adults to become part of history through a new initiative designed to engage the next generation in civic participation, lifelong learning, and community connection.
As part of its America 250 commemoration, Conner Prairie will provide 250 complimentary Individual Memberships to young adults ages 18 to 29. Supported in part by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, the initiative aims to remove barriers to participation while creating opportunities for young adults to connect with history in meaningful and relevant ways.
At Conner Prairie, the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary extends far beyond the nation’s founding. Through America 250 programming, the museum is highlighting the generations of everyday people who have shaped our nation’s story and encouraging a new generation to reflect on its role in shaping the future.

Burns
“History is not just something we inherit; it’s something we create together,” Conner Prairie President and CEO Norman Burns said. “As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, we have a unique opportunity to engage young adults in conversations about our shared past, present, and future. We want Gen Z to see Conner Prairie as a place where their voices matter, their perspectives are valued, and their participation helps strengthen our communities.”
Recipients will receive a complimentary one-year Individual Membership, providing access to Conner Prairie’s immersive exhibits, experiences, and special events throughout the year. Members will also be invited to participate in programs and initiatives designed to inspire civic engagement, foster dialogue, and encourage deeper connections to history and community.
The initiative supports Conner Prairie’s mission to inspire curiosity and foster learning through immersive experiences. It also aligns with the museum’s partnership with Made By Us, a nationwide coalition of history and civic organizations working to empower younger generations through civic participation, as well as Conner Prairie’s ongoing efforts surrounding Civics Season and America 250.
By investing in young adults today, Conner Prairie hopes to cultivate a more diverse and engaged membership community while creating lasting connections with a generation that will help shape the future.
“Young adults are already making an impact in their communities,” Burns said. “This initiative is about welcoming them into a space where they can explore ideas, build connections, and discover how history can inform the choices we make today.”
Young adults ages 18 to 29 are encouraged to learn more and apply for one of the 250 complimentary memberships by visiting connerprairie.org/membership-giveaway.
