The shopping spree took place Tuesday evening, Dec. 2 at Academy Sports + Outdoors of Westfield-Carmel, 1960 E. Greyhound Pass.

Each child received a $400 gift card to shop for items on their wish lists, including all new games, clothes, shoes, sports equipment, and more to help make their holiday season brighter. Academy Sports + Outdoors and the Indianapolis Colts are matching $4,000 donations to make this event possible.

“It’s the season of giving, and we are thrilled to surprise 20 kids with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana with an $8,000 holiday shopping spree!” Khatijah Smith, Academy Sports + Outdoors Store Director said. “Fun can’t lose when you team up to make holiday magic happen, so we partnered with Alec Pierce and The Indianapolis Colts to make the evening even more special for these deserving kids. Seeing the looks on their faces when the realized what was happening was priceless. It’s just one way we’re spreading cheer and making the holiday season brighter for our local community.”

Colts Cheerleaders and Blue were also onsite to shop alongside Pierce and his teammates and the kids. Academy’s donation is one of several across its footprint this holiday season.
