Last Saturday, May 31, American Legion Post 360 and Indy Warrior Partnership held a Coffee with a Vet at Schoolhouse 7 Café in Fishers.
The breakfast was donated by Rob Burkhart, State Commander of the American Legion. There was a great turnout of 20 people, including Ed Sweetland from Indy Honor Flight, Col. Jeanine Lugo, USA Ret from the Military, of Women’s Memorial & Indiana Military Veteran Hall of Fame, and Caprice Elliott, who spoke about Veterans being needed for an Alzheimer’s-Dementia survey.

Bill Doss from the Stronger Veterans Stronger Communities coalition spoke about the great strides Hamilton County, ASPIRE, and other resources and services are making in the mental health and wellness areas. This is not only for the local Military Veteran population, but for the whole community. ASPIRE already has a Mobile Crisis Unit, and in the fall, they will get a Crisis & Psychiatric Urgent Care Facility called Rely Center.
Plus, as more resources and services are brought to people, Hamilton County just launched a new website, navigatehc.org, where anyone may go to find the help they need with a few touches of the screen, or, you may ask for the assistance of a Navigator to connect you to the resource you need.
Yes, great things are coming to Hamilton County.
