On Wednesday evening, May 20, volunteer Judy Miller proudly represented our museum at the City of Westfield’s Memorial Day Ceremony at the Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial. The event was a moving tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Lisa Wilken, an Air Force veteran and board member of the Indiana Veteran Support Council, served as the main presenter and MC for the ceremony. The program featured keynote speaker Indiana State Representative and Gold Star Father David Abbott, along with presentations from the Marine Honor Guard, Westfield Community Choir, and local Scout Troop 107.
Miller wore her museum name tag and distributed 20 calendar sheets with business cards to attendees. She was pleased to report that most people were unaware of our museum and enthusiastic to learn about our mission. She connected with a Korean War veteran and invited him to visit the museum, as well as several City of Westfield contacts who expressed interest in partnering on future events.
Exciting news: Laura Engledow from the City of Westfield invited our museum veterans to participate in Westfield’s first-ever 4th of July parade on Friday, July 3. This represents a wonderful opportunity to increase our visibility in the community and honor our local veterans.
