Charles Michael Summers, 73, Noblesville, passed away on May 13, 2023.
Charles, fondly known as Mike, was born to Charles Truman and Virginia Elizabeth Summers on February 7, 1950, in Beech Grove, Ind. He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1968 and then studied Computer Technology at IUPUI. Mike was a veteran of the United States Army, spending time overseas. He worked at United Parcel Service for 30 years, after which he retired at the age of 50. Mike then spent his retirement studying and attending courses on Construction Technology. It was his dream to build a beautiful home for his family, which he completed in 2015.
Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Beagle Summers; three children, Kimberly Sue Bell, Courtney Leigh Summers, and Christopher Michael Summers (Stephanie); three grandchildren, Arica Lyn Mann, Alexander Jacob Bell, and Austin Thomas Bell; and one great-grandchild, Charles David Mann. He was a wonderful, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mike was the most loving father and friend. He spent his days with his family and his two dogs, Gracie and Gabby.
Mike loved to travel and to spend time outdoors. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, Pacers fan, and Colts fan. He loved to ski the snowy mountains of Colorado. Mike was a seven-year cancer survivor and recently had dealt with a major cardiac health problem.
It is often said that to know someone is to love them. While that was true with Mike, he was more of an “if he knew you, he loved you” type of guy. He was kind to everyone. Mike was funny, generous, and thoughtful. He made everyone he met feel so important and loved every single day. He had an amazing smile that lit up when he was out in the community.
Mike is so greatly missed – and will be thought of and remembered fondly every single day.
There will be a private family funeral held – and a public celebration of life memorial that will be announced at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to support Cancer Care at Community MD Anderson Cancer Center North or Health and Vascular Services at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital.
