Changes coming to Westfield’s Asa Bales Park

Playgrounds at the north and south end of Asa Bales Park will be removed next week in order to prepare the area for new play structures next spring.

The play equipment currently located in Asa Bales is nearly 20 years old and is requiring more and more maintenance as time goes on. The city is removing them before they become unsafe for children to play on.

The playground on the north end of Asa Bales will be replaced with a more modern play structure in the spring of 2018. Designs are not yet completed for this area.

The playground on the south end of the park will be replaced with a Gaga Ball pit, which is a dodge-ball like game played inside of an octagonal pit. A fitness course will also be installed near this area in the spring of 2018.

To stay up to date on this project, follow the Westfield Parks and Recreation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
