Hamilton Heights School Corporation announces that Chad Ballenger, high school health teacher and head boys basketball coach, has been named the 2026 School Health Educator of the Year by Prevail, Inc.

This honor is part of Prevail’s annual recognition during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 19 to 26, 2026), a time dedicated to acknowledging the individuals and partners who support survivors and work to prevent violence in local communities. Each year, Prevail highlights educators, first responders, and community leaders whose commitment strengthens safety, advocacy, and healing for those they serve.

In announcing the award, Prevail shared its deep appreciation for Ballenger’s ongoing partnership and his unwavering dedication to student well-being.

“This award is a testament to your dedication and the lasting impact you make every day as an educator,” the organization noted in its recognition message.

Ballenger’s work in the classroom and on the court reflects a consistent focus on building trust, fostering resilience, and equipping students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy, informed decisions. His leadership extends beyond curriculum – shaping a culture of respect, safety, and support throughout the school community.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award from Prevail,” Ballenger said. “I am a believer in what Prevail stands for and I appreciate all they do for our school and community. Prevail helps build a foundation for our students on learning about healthy and unhealthy relationships in the classroom and within our basketball program. I appreciate all they do for us.”

Prevail honored Ballenger, along with all 2026 award recipients and nominees, at a community recognition event on April 15.

Hamilton Heights congratulates Ballenger on this well-deserved recognition and thanks Prevail for its continued partnership in supporting students, families, and survivors.
