On Saturday, July 3, at 4 p.m. and repeating again at 5:30 p.m., the Sheridan Historical Society will sponsor a program by Burlington vexillologist Shelley G. Jones.
Vexillology is the study of the history, symbolism, and usage of flags, and “The Flag Lady,” as Shelley Jones is known, will share some American history with a wide variety of historical flags. Special focus will be on the Battle of Fort McHenry and The Star-Spangled Banner. The program is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.
The program event will take place in Sheridan’s Veterans Park at the gazebo, 100 W. First St., in beautiful downtown Sheridan. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic items for their own use and comfort. If the weather is bad, the program will transfer over to the Meeting Room at the Sheridan Public Library, which is located next door to the park.
