Carmel to hold block party to celebrate reopening of College Avenue Corridor

The City of Carmel invites community members and local business owners to celebrate the completion of the College Avenue reconstruction project at the College Avenue Block Party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.

Hosted at Rosie’s Gardens & Hughes Landscape, 10402 N. College Ave., the block party serves as a special community thank-you to nearby residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during the extensive corridor improvements.

The celebration will combine the interactive community engagement elements of Mayor Sue Finkam’s Neighborhood Pop-ups with vibrant local entertainment, food, and drink.

Event highlights

• 5:30 p.m.: Event begins / Neighborhood Pop-up activities open
• 5:45 p.m.: Remarks from Mayor Sue Finkam and City of Carmel officials
• 6 to 8 p.m.: Live Performance by Naptown Hepcats, a popular local Rockabilly band

Food & beverage

• Greek Tony’s: Offering a free slice of pizza, breadstick, and a drink to the first 200 attendees.
• Bier Brewery: Serving craft beverages available for purchase.

Finkam

“Our construction projects are vital to Carmel’s growth and infrastructure, but we know they require flexibility and patience from the neighbors who live and work near them every day,” Mayor Sue Finkam said. “This block party is our way of saying thank you to the College Avenue community, coming together to enjoy the new roadway, local business partners and great live music.”

The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available on-site at Rosie’s Gardens & Hughes Landscape.
