Carmel sweeps at NC, Miller boys and Rocks girls triumph at WRES

Four Hamilton County cross country teams won sectional championships on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Carmel swept both the boys and girls team titles at North Central. The Greyhounds’ boys team scored 24 points and got a 1-2 finish from Jonah Kaul and Zach Flint.

Carmel’s girls won with 25 points and filled four of the top five places; Sadie Foley was the individual champion. Both Greyhound teams will race in the Brownsburg regional on Saturday, along with a handful of University individual runners.

Over at Noblesville’s Chanquapin Ridge Course at White River Elementary School, the Noblesville boys and Westfield girls were the team champions.

The Millers scored 41 points to win the boys team championship. Hamilton Southeastern placed second as a team and had the individual champion in Liam Powers. Fishers finished third and Westfield took fourth.

Westfield’s girls edged out Fishers, 62-68, to win the sectional championship. Noblesville placed third, Hamilton Southeastern was fourth and Guerin Catholic was fifth.

All of the top five teams qualified for the Shelbyville regional , which takes place this Saturday at Blue River Park. Hamilton Heights will have several individual runners as well.
