Carmel split a pair of games this week in the Paul Loggan Memorial Invitational at North Central.
In their first game, the Greyhounds beat Evansville Harrison 60-46 on Thursday. The Warriors, who received votes in the latest Class 4A poll, led 21-19 after one quarter, but Carmel used a strong second quarter to go up 36-28 at halftime. The ‘Hounds outscored Harrison 16-10 in the fourth quarter to finish the game.
Carmel had a tremendous game from 3-point range, making 11 of 19 attempts. Alex Couto nailed four triples on his way to a team-leading 15 points, while Ben Bremer made three 3s while scoring 12 points. Ryan Clevenger added 10 points and handed out four assists. Max Winders led the rebounds with six and Couto collected five.
The Greyhounds played another game Friday, falling to Louisville Trinity 48-34. Carmel led 11-10 after one quarter, but Trinity outscored the ‘Hounds in the other three periods, leading 18-16 at halftime and 26-18 after three quarters.
Harrell led Carmel with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Greyhounds are 3-7 and play at Marion next Friday.
